Serotonin Can Impact Hair Loss

While studies are still being performed, there is growing evidence that the inhibition caused by serotonin can affect our energy metabolism which may have an adverse effect on the hair follicle.

Like all tissues, the hair follicle is made of a collection of cells and depends on the flow of energy to function. Thyroid hormones regulate this process and control the hidden energy metabolism as well as the mitochondrial function factor. A factor in stress aging in hair loss can be serotonin. Considering at all the causes of hair loss is important, which is whyCellustrious® looks at the overall health of the individual. Developed by trichologist, author and trainer, Misti Barnes, who worked along with a biochemist with a background in hair science (L’Oreal, Aveda), who holds 40 hair patents.

The Cellustrious® process involves an office hair follicle rejuvenation treatment once a month, and an home maintenance protocol.

We know that we can learn more about how the hair follicle is impacted by things like serotonin, which many people, who are dealing with anxiety and stress are prescribed. Not only that, but the hair follicle, as sensitive organ is also impacted by things like: toxicity, inflammation, calcification DHT and even our thyroid.

While hair loss is a complex one and it is important that we look at the whole of the person, it’s important to remember that we can make changes that help hair loss. It matters not if we are male or female, our ethnicity or age, although the earlier we treat the problem, the better.
